Springwood State High School
(スプリングウッド高校)
Australia (Queensland)

A state high school in Springwood, a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, founded in 1977, there are about 1000 students registered between year 8 and year 12. In year 8 all students study Japanese, and after that they can choose to continue. We have a long sister school history; from 1987 we have been mutually involved in the exchange of students and teachers. They are also involved in sister school exchanges with high schools in Germany and China.
During the stay students took English classes, attended classes with host students, and were also given the chance to visit a local elementary school and a retirement home. Also, Springwood High School is near downtown Brisbane, beautiful Gold Coast beaches, and a national park with lush subtropical rainforest; so students could experience surfing and visit a wildlife sanctuary as extracurricular activities. On the last day, students visited Sydney and saw the opera house, cathedral, art museum, and so on.
