@Made up of 4 junior high and high schools, it is a private girls' school
with about 650 students. International exchange is popular having put into
effect study abroad every other year in Vienna and Berlin, and regularly
with a school in London. The Brearley School has a strong interest in Asia.
Having created elective courses in Japanese history and Chinese history,
Japanese geography, language, religion, society and culture can be studied.
From June of 1998 and in 1999, the Brearley School visited this school,
and in December of 1999, this school went to New York to amkethe sister
school relationship binding. Now we exchnage with each other every other
year. At the Brearley School scholastic dilligence is important, and students
study very hard. After graduation most students go to Yale University and
Harvard University is second, thus when Narita Kokusai students visit in
December most are suprised by the amount of studying Brearley students
do.
@At the Brearley School, there was English conversation practice with
the principal everyday, and meeting such a kind and gentle principal was
fun for the students. Also, students interacted with kindergarten and elementary
children and taught them Japanese culture and participated in classes with
host students. School excursions included places such as the Empire State
Building, Central Park and 5th Avenue, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis
Island, the Metropolitan Art Museum, the Natural History Museum, Harlem,
Greenwich Village, Soho, Chinatown, and students were fortunate enough
to have the experience of walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. We give heartfelt
thanks for being able to have such a sister school relationship.
